Affirmative Therapy for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Queer (LGBTQ) Individuals and Couples

Are you looking for an LGBTQ identified and affirming psychotherapist? Have you had negative experiences with health or mental health providers who just don’t get you?

I am experienced working with the entire lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. In particular, I have extensive experience working with gay, bi and queer men and the issues that they struggle with. I believe the LGBTQ community can benefit from therapy more than any other community because of the unique nature of our journey. Most of us grow up without safe spaces, and therefore without the opportunity to explore our identities. I feel passionately about helping provide those safe spaces for clients.

Common issues include:

  • Coming out

  • Family acceptance

  • Relationship/intimacy struggles

  • Isolation

  • Depression

  • Shame

  • Anger/rage

  • Sexual issues

  • Numbness

  • Addiction

A broad and diverse awareness about what it means to be lesbian, gay, bi, transgender or queer in our culture beyond "coming out" can be an important and often times essential part of the work done in therapy. Extensive work with the LGBTQ community has offered me a wealth of knowledge to help integrate the practice of understanding and validating the social realities of clients within the broader scope of therapy and the goals that they've identified.
