Gender Adventures: A Trans/Non-binary/Genderqueer D&D Group

Well met, traveler!

From the moment of our birth, we are inundated by societal expectations surrounding our assigned sex that life can end up feeling a bit pre-scripted. But what if you got to write your own story?

Gender Adventures is a therapeutic group for non-binary and gender-queer/diverse people from ages 18-30 that uses Dungeons & Dragons role-playing system as a way to investigate one’s gender identity.

Using the tenets of therapeutically applied role-playing games, you will develop an in-game persona that can be as similar or as different from your real-world self as you desire. While your character heads off to explore dungeons and slay dragons, you’ll have a chance to explore your gender performance and queer identity in a safe and judgment-free environment without changing the dynamics of your daily life before you feel ready to do so.

Overview of Gender Adventures Group:

  • Your DMs will be two pre-licensed clinical therapists trained according to the Games 2 Grow method

  • hey will be there for everything from your character’s creation to their journey home

  • Each weekly session will be a “homebrew”-style game, meaning you and your fellow players will be deciding the course of your adventure, making meaningful choices, and developing your character into something unique to you

  • Following each game session, members will have the chance to discuss any valuable moments that occur during play

All skill levels are welcome, whether you’re a first-time novice or a lifelong adventurer.

  • Session 0 (our first meeting) is Wednesday, April 3rd, for 8 consecutive weeks

  • Sessions begin at 6 pm and play for 1 1/2 hours, with a 1/2 hour processing session ending at 8pm
